BioBuu takes a value-chain approach, from waste collection, to processing all the way to the end products.
BioBuu Limited is an East African insect company. BioBuu was registered in Tanzania after three years of research on the breeding and feeding behaviors of black soldier flies. The company has focused on a factory model that produces high protein chicken and fish feed as well as organic compost. The model is labor intensive and perfect for Africa. After developing the first factories in Tanzania and Kenya, BioBuu is now looking to open factories all across the continent.
BioBuu is the Global Start-Up Awards Regional Winner for East Africa on Agri-tech
TES & BioBuu
The TES Angel Network invested capital in BioBuu.
TES supports BioBuu with the funding roadmap; with direct capital and strategic and operational support. Together we identified funding needs and supported BioBuu in the identification, application and management of mixed financing opportunities, including equity and grants.
BioBuu takes a value-chain approach, from waste collection, to processing all the way to the end products. In order to change legacy systems, the value-chain needs to work together and work differently. Here, TES supports BioBuu as an interface with the global triple-helix, connecting both regional and international academic institutions, industry & government. Together we identify medium- and long-term strategic goals for the ecosystem and engage other stakeholders on this path.
