Ventures are the best way to nurture and develop ideas.

Approach

We start, build, and invest in ventures around people, ideas and technology.

Our approach is driven by these core principles.

  • We work and think like entrepreneurs

Ventures operate in challenging, rapidly changing environments. We believe that an entrepreneurial mindset is essential to tackle any challenge and move businesses forward. We co-create and lead development in line with our expertise, combining technology, business and innovation.

  • We share risk and align incentives

Ventures often face conditions of extreme uncertainty. Our business model allows us to work in return for equity stake, in combination with a reduced hourly rate. This allows us to collaborate with any size company and build a relationship in which all parties work together towards collaborative success.

  • Our network drives our innovation

Innovation begins with people. We have a large active network in all of our domains, giving us access to a broad spectrum of skills, knowledge and resources. We strongly believe in the power of leveraging that network, whether it’s through an invitation to a diverse and volatile brainstorm or as full team member.

We move a problem or idea towards a financed venture with proof of concept.

We believe that ventures are the best way to nurture and develop ideas. TES.begin is our environment to explore unconventional problems and ideas through the setup of ventures together. These can either be initiated by ourselves or from anyone outside our network who has a problem or idea.

We believe independent ventures are incredibly powerful. They allow us to build and test an idea outside the legacy of an organisation, in high-paced progress towards solutions, while limited time and resources boost pragmatism and creativity.

    Way of Working

Starting a venture is not a linear process. We start with defining the problem, idea and approach. Domain expertise gives direction, but we intent to go back and forth in working on the business plan, building a team, proof of concept, and getting funding. All these are required to enable the start of a viable and scalable solution. During this process we work together as co-founders and help with our expertise on entrepreneurship, technology, and innovation. We create focus and calm amidst the chaos of starting up.

Entrepreneurs think in possibilities and through actions. They embrace risk and can move forward in ambiguity. Adding value is their core driver. We believe that having an entrepreneurial mindset is essential to tackle any challenge and move businesses forward.

We help scale organisations as “Entrepreneurs in Residence”. As EiR we are part of the team, working hands-on in close connection to the operation. This allows us to react quickly to challenges at hand.

    Way of working

We dive in and work closely together to understand the context and set clear goals for ourselves. We co-create strategy in which we combine business design and design thinking. We go beyond providing consultancy by actually implementing strategy hands-on, getting things done. Those activities include business, design or technology services, like investment pitching or service design. Experts from our network (from lean startup strategists to backend developers) are involved as needed.

We identify new potential within an established organisation and validate its feasibility, desirability and viability.

We identify new potential within an established organisation and validate its feasibility, desirability and viability

Innovation is the creation of new value and of the utmost importance to stay competitive as an organisation. Successful organisations have to constantly re-invent themselves. It is therefore important to have environments in place where creativity and innovation are possible.

We explore new potential and offer environments to foster innovation for any size organisation. We create and assess both the business and product side for new venture possibilities.

    Way of working

We start with setting up a swift research in which we assess both the internal and external state of the (innovation) problem. A digital SWOT analysis can be an outcome. Together, we define our goal and strategy, after which an ideation and conceptualisation phase starts. In short iterations such as, for instance, a design sprint, we work towards a concept that we can validate with stakeholders. Feasibility, desirability, and viability are the main drivers for success. After a clear go/no-go we start with venture and business design to define next steps.

    • Typical outcomes

      • A concept with go/no-go
      • An enthusiastic team with renewed energy
